Justin Bieber Doesn’t Want To Work With Mariah Carey!

March 24, 2010

http://img.clevvertv.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/SGY-012406.jpg

When you’re as successful as the Biebster you can afford to be picky, right? But dissing Mariah Carey is NOT something you want to do, Justin!

Justin Bieber’s got game – there’s no denying it. But has fame gone to the 16-year-old tween sensation’s head? He’s definitely picking a battle with the wrong person – none other than la diva herself – Ms. Mariah Carey!

Although the young singer will be collaborating with British chanteuse Corinne Bailey Rae, he knocks any chance of working with Mariah, 39. “I don’t love her new music, it’s not the same [as her old stuff],” the Canadian singer told UK paper The Sun. “It’s like Michael Jordan coming back out to play in the NBA. She is past her best.”

Ouch, Justin! You better be ready to face the wrath of both Mariah AND her hubby Nick Cannon for that one!

Although Justin may be selective when it comes to his musical collaborators, he wants the world to know that he’s just a normal kid at heart, and there’s nothing ‘diva-esque’ about him!. “I’m just a regular 16 year-old kid. I make good grilled cheese and I like girls. I have to do my homework, which is a chore,” he said.

Justin may even consider going to college! “I don’t want to limit my options, you never know how things are going to turn out.”

Universal betting on lower prices to boost CD sales

March 23, 2010

Universal Music Group (UMG) is embarking on one of the most ambitious efforts yet to boost U.S. CD sales, with the test of a new pricing structure designed to sell most new releases by current artists at $10 or less at retail.

The major’s “Velocity” pricing program responds to the continuing plunge in CD sales, taking aim at brick-and-mortar retail stores that have scaled back on floor space dedicated to music. The pricing adjustments will also bring CD prices more in line with what consumers pay for digital albums at online retailers like iTunes and Amazon.

“We think it will really bring new life into the physical format,” Universal Music Group Distribution chairman/CEO Jim Urie says.

Universal, which accounts for 28.7 percent of year-to-date U.S. album sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan, will cut UMG’s main wholesale price point of $10.35 to about $7.50 or less for front-line releases, which are generally by established current artists. It’s also breaking with prevailing industry practice by putting suggested retail prices on CDs, ranging from $6 to $10.

UMG is betting that it can offset the loss in revenue per CD with increased sales volume and the rollout of greater numbers of higher-priced, higher-margin deluxe editions of albums. The new CD pricing structure could also spur UMG imprints to find ways to reduce CD costs, such as embracing less elaborate packaging on standard single CD releases or placing fewer songs on albums in order to reduce mechanical royalty payments to songwriters.

Asia Braces For Tsunami After Chile Quake

February 28, 2010

TOKYO — Wide swaths of the south Pacific, Asia and Australia braced for a tsunami after a devastating earthquake hit the coast of Chile on Saturday.

Officials in Japan and Australia warned a tsunami from the earthquake was likely to hit Asian shorelines within 24 hours. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii issued a tsunami caution for areas across the region.

“Sea-level readings confirm that a tsunami has been generated which could cause widespread damage,” the center said in a bulletin after the magnitude-8.8 quake. “Authorities should take appropriate action to respond to this threat.”

The center noted that the first waves after a quake are not necessarily the largest and said tsunami wave heights are difficult to predict because they can vary significantly along a coast due to the local topography.

Earthquakes across the Pacific have had deadly effects on Asia in the past.

A tsunami after a magnitude-9.5 quake that struck Chile in 1960, the largest earthquake ever recorded, killed about 140 people in Japan, 61 in Hawaii and 32 in the Philippines. That tsunami was about 3.3 to 13 feet (one to four meters) in height, Japan’s Meteorological Agency said.

V-Day Gifts to Give Your Guy No Matter How Long You’ve Been Together

    February 6, 2010

Valentine’s Day is a loaded holiday when it comes to picking out the right gift for your man. What you buy reflects how you see him and the relationship, so you want to get something thoughtful, creative, and appropriate for the amount of time you’ve been together. We know guys are notoriously tough to shop for, so our guide is full of great outside-the-box ideas for every stage of coupledom. And while you are shopping, don’t forget to pick up a little something for yourself.

    Less Than 3 Months

If you’ve just started dating, keep your gift casual. At this point, anything expensive or too personal will send a scary I-like-you-a-little-too-much message. Plan to spend around $20-$25 on something simple but sweet, like a DVD of a movie he really liked — such as The Hangover) — or a book by one of his favorite authors (A Michael Crichton novel was just published).

    Facebook Homepage Redesigned

    February 5, 2010

Facebook, still the social network of choice by the young, started rolling out a new homepage designlate Thursday focusing on the top menu and left column. Unlike previous overhauls that focused on visual appeal, the new Facebook changes are more about improving site navigation and placing useful information and links on one side of the Webpage. Facebook hasn’t said when the new rollout will be complete or how many users have received the update so far, but Inside Facebook is reporting that just 80 million of Facebook’s users have seen the changes to date. Details of the redesign have been posted on Facebook’s blog.

    Here’s what’s new:

    Top Menu

The biggest change you’re likely to notice is that the notifications icon, for when someone has written on your wall or sent you message, has been moved from the lower right corner to the left side of the top menu (click on the image to enlarge it).

The notifications icon has also been changed from a signpost to a globe, but Facebook says you will still see the familiar red pop-up bubble alerting you to new notifications.

To the left of the notifications icon are two other icons: one for messages (replacing the current ‘Inbox’ link) and one for the requests to join groups or authorized applications that used to appear in the right hand column. The search bar is now next to these three icons on the left side, and links to your profile, account menu (including privacy settings) and the log out button will remain on the top right side of your screen.

Mariah Takes Part in UK’s Haiti Charity Single

    January 25, 2010
Superstar Mariah Carey last night joined the stellar line-up for The Sun’s Haiti charity single as its earthquake disaster appeal topped the £1million mark.

Grammy award-winning singer Mariah, 39, agreed to take part in the cover version of REM’s ballad “Everybody Hurts” in a project being masterminded by X Factor chief Simon Cowell.

Disney star Miley Cyrus, 17, also signed up over the weekend as X Factor stars JLS and show judge Cheryl Cole kicked off recording in London.

Cowell, 50, last night paid tribute to all the artists taking part, saying: “We’re getting there. We have had an incredible amount of support. It’s amazing these great singers are clearing their schedules to make this happen. I just found out Mariah has changed her schedule to be able to do this too. It says such a lot that everyone is working so hard to help Haiti. This is something that really matters to us all and I’m so grateful for the support we are getting.”

A source close to Cowell added: “Mariah was brilliant, she wanted to help in any way she could. Her name gives the single another great boost. Simon is working so hard behind the scenes to get this together. He knows this needs to happen quickly to get the money through to Haiti.”

John Mayer Gets Candid About Penis Envy

    January 21, 2010
    http://www.mytimesdispatch.com/images/uploads/john-mayer.jpg

JOHN MAYER’s love of porn has turned the rocker into a penis obsessive.
The candid star insists he’s “100 percent straight as an arrow” but he can’t help but glance at his manhood competition when he’s in the locker room at a gym.
He tells Rolling Stone magazine, “Because of all the porn I’ve watched, I’m now enamoured with what I call ‘the third child’. It’s not male, it’s not female. It’s a new creation by way of the hundreds of blow-job films I’ve seen.
“There’s a new brand of d**ks going around right now. It’s a new d**k. It’s a superd**k. This superd**k is straight and one colour, and it seeks to destroy the race of men before them.”

The Golden Globes’ Most Awkward Moments

    January 19, 2010
    http://a323.yahoofs.com/ymg/gg_blog/gg_blog-363935838-1263834441.jpg?ymJliiCDPcnRSmqw

Even the most carefully planned award shows have their clumsy moments, and this year’s Golden Globes telecast on NBC was no different. Here’s a rundown of the unexpected moments that made viewers laugh or wince during last night’s show.

Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt have been divorced for more than five years now. But because the tabloids keep the divorce aftermath and Pitt’s relationship with his next partner, Angelina Jolie, so front-and-center in the popular imagination, it was still interesting when Aniston’s presenting duties forced her to utter the name of her ex’s movie, “Inglourious Basterds.” But Aniston did so gracefully and without flinching.

One would assume Julia Roberts is used to being the most famous person in the room. But when presenting the award for best motion picture drama, she exclaimed that her seat next to Paul McCartney, which the cameras had been cutting back to all evening, was causing her friends to go crazy. She said she was receiving “more text messages than I’ve ever gotten in my life!”

10 Things You Should Never Say to Your Boyfriend

    January 18, 2010

    http://a323.yahoofs.com/phugc/6KgqbJV9.DAu/photos/1589407a21f1be707dfc33127ca56e27/ori_72983bcca22dd5.jpg?ug_____DB8Gzy_fZ

You pride yourself on your open, honest relationship. But that doesn’t mean you should blurt out any thought that comes to mind.

Sometimes, a comment that seems perfectly harmless to you might be hurtful, awkward or just plain irritating to your boyfriend.

    1) “My ex did the exact same thing!”

Whether it’s a desirable resemblance (they both always hold the door open) or a less desirable one (neither one showers often enough), your boyfriend never wants to hear that he’s anything like your ex. Ever.

You don’t want him to feel like you’re always comparing the two of them, do you? Think about it: Do you really want him to imagine that he does other things just like your ex? Doubtful. Plus, he might think you’re still hung up on your former flame.

Either way, a comment like this won’t do much for his self-esteem. So the next time you experience boyfriend deja-vu, keep it to yourself.

Golden Globes Red Carpet: The Funniest Moments

The pouring rain in Los Angeles tonight didn’t dampen the stars’ senses of humor during E!’s and NBC’s red carpet interviews. Here are a few of the funniest moments:

While most celebrities had an escort to usher them through the pouring rain, Penelope Cruz was one of the few holding her own umbrella. When E!’s Ryan Seacrest pointed it out, Cruz replied: “I knew I would be holding my own umbrella. I’m not like Puff Daddy [Diddy], I hold my own umbrella.”

Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign Takes Over Facebook Statuses!

    January 9, 2010

    http://www.twominutenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/facebook-bra-color-235x300.jpg

Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign – Facebook is looking a little more colorful today as users spread across the social networking site a ‘revealing’ fad – posting the color of their bra as their status.

New York Daily News reported that the most popular colors were “white”, “black” and “beige”. However, the idea of who initiated the said campaign is still unknown.

A Detroit blog believes that the color update craze was started by women in Detroit who are trying to raise awareness around Breast Cancer.

Furthermore, the what-color-is-you-bra Facebook phenomenon began when a viral chain letter was sent addressing to every woman with active Facebook profiles.

This is one form that landed in their inboxes sometime over the past few days, “Some fun is going on… Just write the color of your bra in your status. Just the color, nothing else. And send this on to ONLY girls, no men…It will be neat to see if this will spread the wings of cancer awareness. It will be fun to see how long it takes before the men will wonder why all the girls have a color in their status. Pass it on & be sure to do your breast self-exams!”

    ANGELS CRY REMIX FEATURING NE-YO
(Mariah Carey, C. Stewart, Crystal Johnson, James Wright, Ne-Yo)

    Mariah:
    I shouldn’t have walked away
I would’ve stayed if you said
    We could’ve made everything OK
    But we just
Threw the blame back and forth
We treated love like a sport
The final blow hit so low
    I’m still on the ground

I couldn’t have prepared myself for this fall
Shattered in pieces curled on the floor
    Super natural love conquers all
‘Member we used to touch the sky
    And

    Lightning don’t strike
    The same place twice
When you and I said goodbye
    I felt the angels cry
    True love’s a gift
    We let it drift
    In a storm
    Every night
    I feel the angels cry

C’mon babe can’t our love be revived
Bring it back and we gon’ make it right
I’m on the edge just tryin’ to survive
    As the angels cry

Google Hopes to Change Wireless Retail Game with Nexus One

    January 5, 2010
    http://news.cnet.com/i/bto/20100105/Nexus_One-unboxing2-1.jpg

It wasn’t much of a secret, really, but the sleek, Android-powered Nexus One is finally here, and yes: you can buy it directly from Google, over the Web. As expected, the unlocked, no-contract Nexus One will cost you a pretty penny, but subsidized versions will also be available from T-Mobile and … what’s this, Verizon Wireless? You betcha.Announced Tuesday during a press conference at Google’s Mountain View headquarters, the Nexus One (designed by phone maker HTC under Google’s strict supervision) is available for purchase right now on Google’s new Web store rather than through a carrier—a twist that some observers see as a paradigm shift in the wireless market, where the balance of power is usually tipped in the carrier’s favor.

The Making of "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel"

    January 4, 2010

Imperfections are in the eye of the beholder. You can see them as flaws, or as the very qualities that make us human — and that make perfection that we know we can never fully achieve. In the thirteen songs on her spell-binding new album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, Mariah Carey explores those aspects in our shared humanity with a rare depth, honesty and open-heartedness. It’s one of the strongest statements in her long, distinguished career.

The subject of Memoirs is love at all its messages in our lives. Experiencing it for the first time. Losing it. Remembering its most painful moments, and also its times of greatest innocence and joy. Yearning for it. Learning from it. Growing as a result of its profound power. Finding it again and being grateful for so great a gift. And, finally, being humbled, filled with wonder and elevated by love’s mysterious ways. In tha sense and more, Memoirs is a full, immensely satisfying journey.
